The Adventures of Death Knight

Previously: In search of the Silver V, a key of uncertain power, Death Knight traveled across midtown with his companion Norman. Upon their arrival downtown the two found the city deserted…oh and their car broke down. Before they had any time to ponder their surroundings, a great beast shaped itself from the very road in front of them and now blocks their path into the city.

Death Knight grabbed the hilt of his dark sword.

The great monster towered above his and Norman’s heads. Its massive form eclipsed the mid-afternoon sun casting a shadow that swallowed all light within a block and a half of where Death Knight now stood. Steam radiated from the asphalt wall as the figure stretched backward with great effort as it hurled a giant slab of itself at Death Knight. The crude arm rained a shower of burning stones as it moved with horrible speed. Death Knight could make out the top of the arm well enough in the strange and sudden darkness to leap on top of it drawing his black sword, invisible in the deep shadow.
Death Knight threw himself onto the beast’s opposite shoulder and quickly leapt onto what might be considered the thing’s head as it brought the groping claw back to it’s mouth. The monster’s jaw crashed into its upper jagged maw with a crunch that nearly knocked the small man on its back off his balance. Death Knight fell; his chin hit the burning mass, breaking out two of his top right teeth as he gripped a sizable crack that must have once been a pretty nasty pothole. The knight’s skin blazed and blistered where it touched the black earth. He rose up and saw his blood boiling on the surface of the asphalt. He gained a stance, half kneeling and half draped off the back of the road to the right of the double bright yellow lines. Death Knight plunged his sword into what he had guessed to be the monster’s spine.
Norman pointed his custom pump double-barreled shotgun at the arm that threatened his friend. He trusted Death Knight’s ability and covered his every movement as he dashed easily onto the creature. He watched Death Knight as he pulled his sword from the monster’s back. It was now blazing red as flames caressed its blade. He had seen it do this once before when he had picked him up from the gym at a local middle school. He was being trailed by three things that might have at one time been human. They lumbered toward Death Knight like drunken zombies as he raced toward the car. He had been badly injured and needed a ride away from whatever the hell peril he was in. That was back when he had a cell phone. Anyway, that night his sword had not been black and like today had been bathed in dancing flames. Norman had no idea what that meant and reminded himself to say something about that shit later. The left armed raised up to swat Death Knight from its head. Norman responded by blasting it with two rounds. The arm was disconnected just above its elbow as the dense cloud of shrapnel passed through the thick dirt and black stone.

Hey dudes,
I hoped you’ve enjoyed this story so far. There’s a lot of work to be done around here and hopefully I will find the time to do it. I’d like to think whoever manages to read this. I know I’ve been updating somewhere in the way of once a month, but I swear it’ll get better as I get my shit together. Check up in a week for the next installment and party on party people. Leave a response. I’m lonely.
